What do Axel Rose and fabric have in common? I will tell you! Yesterday Heather posted this little button on her Facebook page and I curiously clicked on the link. It turns out, Fat Quarter Idol, is a fun contest over at Sew Mama Sew involving fabric, themes, judges and PRIZES!! Yo Dawg, I'm in! Putting together fabric combinations is so much fun. This weeks theme is Sweet Child of mine. I instantly thought of the song by the same name. So I put on a little Guns N Roses (hello teenage memories), which led to this song and then this song. Who is this Myles Kennedy anyway?! He’s great! Also, I think I need more Slash in my life. While I was rocking out, I got to work gathering my fabrics.

I started with this gorgeous orange print. I already own this fabric and I LOVE it. It is buttery soft and the perfect shade of orange. The buttons are cute and sophisticated at the same time. Is that possible? It’s almost all gone and I would love a chance to replenish my stash.
ORANGES: Pezzy Orange, Button Up Orange, Pastry Line Coral, Kona Tangerine
GREYS: Essex Grey, Circle Stripes Cloud, Daisy’s Dates Graphite, Kona Slate
BLUES: Pastry Line Water, Kei Dots Blue, Essex Dusty Blue, Essex White
Orange and grey with a spectrum of worn out blues. Perfect! All of the fabric names are included on my Pinterest board and they link right back to Sew Mama Sew for easy shopping. ; )

i'm lovin' the worn out blues. and blue with orange is always a win in my book!
You should totally check out Slash's self titled ablum from last year/year before?...it's so good!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be cool(more like crazy awesome!) if every theme was a song title!
SO...I commented & *then* watched the videos you linked too... I have the cd & like 'Starlight' already, but listening to this version, I got goosebumps at the start of the song! And now I may have to watch all of the videos from that session! Instead of the sewing I was going to do...so, thanks for that.. :P
ReplyDeleteGreat selection
ReplyDeleteLove your choices!
