Are you wondering what happened with my big chunky hexagons? Here they are in a very raw state. Strings everywhere and not even pressed yet (they will be pressed open). I probably should have pressed as I went, but once I sat down I just kept going. This method requires a little bit of a hokey pokey dance at the machine and I didn't want to get confused.
Have you got a crush on hexagons too? Post a link in the comments.

I have a total crush on hexagons of all sizes! I did try Lady Havartine's tutorial but was struggling with leaving the right amount of "don't stitch to the end" to make it all work. You have inspired me to try again! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt! And, thanks for the link. I do have a crush on hexagons, but have yet to delve into them!
ReplyDeletethis is a wonderful concept...seems like it would make the hexie thing way easier
ReplyDeleteYes I do love hexagons... I've been making an American Jane version of Jaybirds quilt along last year for my littlest man... still a WIP though :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the idea and the video Adrianne!
ReplyDeleteWow! no kidding - by machine. Another thing I'll have to try! : )

ReplyDeleteOh I definitely want to try machine piecing hexagons! I just bought a hexagon template today and I can't wait to try it out! Thanks for the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I am new to quilting, bought my first stash yesterday... These hexagons look amazing and the video is very helpful. Thank you so much for posting and sharing this beauty quilt WIP and helpful video!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Sunday,

Oh my goodness I am in such a hexagon fever right now myself. I love the fabrics in yours! So so pretty. I've never tried to machine piece them but I'm intrigued by this video. Don't you love youtube? Here's where I posted about my new hexagon obsession on my blog:) http://silverlilysews.blogspot.com/2011/02/crazy-for-hexigons.html
ReplyDeleteYes well the video is all well and good and informative and everything and thank you very much for sharing. But what I REALLY want to see a video of is that hokey pokey dance at the machine! Now THAT sounds like entertainment!
ReplyDeleteWell it is the 9th of May 2013. I have just now seen this and all I can say is WOW! Thank you. Better late than never. My granddaughters, 10 and 11 this summer will be thrilled. We will have to keep the paper piecing going though, busy hands keeps the naughty's away.
