Jane Market Bag

How was your weekend?!  Our three day weekend was spent...

Sewing and a Guild Meeting!!(Me)
House concert by Cindy Alexander.  Awesome!!
Arcade Day (the Boy)
Movie Night w/ Bambi II (the Girl)
Back, to back, to back episodes of Game of Thrones (the DH)

I love it when we each have time to do something we want to.  Most weekends we just can't fit it all in.  Two days is too short!

What??  White out on the selvage?

I made two Jane Market Bags.  This is a great bag pattern!!  The lining, pockets and finished seams make for a very polished tote.  The pattern is well written and has lots of pictures for visual people (ME!).  I've made a few now and I find myself buying fabric with this bag in mind.  I love picking the contrasting sides and pockets.  For the handles I usually pick a dot or stripe.  This time I went with a wood grain print.  Ohlala!  Unlike the original bag, I attached the handles in between the inner and outer layers.

My friend Jaye has been making several of these and bringing them for Show & Tell at the guild meetings.  She is the bag making Queen!!  : )

  1. It's so cute. I have the same fabric- might be just what I should use it for. Great bag, and thanks for the links!

  2. I just love, love this bag! What a busy weekend and time for sewing too! Inspired.

  3. Very cute and I love the fabric. We had a full weekend too unfortunately, I did not get to sew but tonight I am getting an hour or so in ;)

  4. Super cute! I just made up one today myself! :) Sounds like you had a great weekend!

  5. The birds are sweet and I am really enjoying that woodgrain fabric lately!

  6. i have that pattern, but have never used it. really need to do that soon, especially since you have now inspired me with your adorable bag!

  7. The link list is a nice idea. I might steal --- uh, borrow ;-) that idea.

  8. Great bag. I like the handle between the layers idea. The handle attachment has always struck me as the weak point of this pattern.

But really, I just want more Game of Thrones. asap.

  9. Good job! I love the wood grain print as the handles. BTW, I had white out on one of my JD Aviary 2 selveges too. I thought that was so strange! And yes, Jaye is the bag making queen! They all come out so lovely!

  10. Lovely bag. The sparrows are very cute. I liked looking at all the other Jane bags in the links you added :)

  11. I've nominated you for the versatile blogger award on my blog. Check it out if you like...
