Some of you have noticed a shift in my sewing lately. There has been a lot more of it! I've made some big changes in my quilting life. The biggest change is after two years, I am no longer the president of the Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild. It was someone else's turn to steer the ship for awhile and so far I'm having fun being *just* a participant. : )
Color is really rocking my world lately. I can't get enough playing with color! This combination reminds me of the moody Santa Cruz coastline in winter. I bought the fabric back in July, after putting together this mood board. It's finally time to cut into that fabric!!
My local fabric shop has free sew nights and I brought my fabric with me on Friday. I spent most of the time cutting 2.5" strips. It was a lot of cutting. A lot. Thank goodness for Dr. Pepper and drive throughs, right guys? ; )
Now I've been working on putting strips sets together and playing with the layout.
The plan is to make a Scrap Vomit Quilt, but with a limited color palette. The name might surprise you if you haven't already seen Katy's quilts. The blocks don't look like much on their own, but I'm excited to watch it come together. So far I really love the scrappy look of it. The hit of tomato red gives it a little zing. The fabrics are a mix of Cameo by Amy Butler, Birds and Bees by Tula Pink and a little Art Gallery too.
