I was feeling an itch for change. It's the same itch that makes me rearrange furniture. Following that logic, I guess my blog banner is a couch. It needed an update, a refresh. This was going to take more than toss pillows. My previous banner (with bobbins) had been up since last year. That's ages in the blog world right?
A couple of days ago, I designed the stripey, herringbone-ish banner above. After I put it on my blog though it didn't feel quite right. A little too generic?
I tried to see it through the eyes of someone visiting my blog for the first time. Maybe a a blog banner should give you a clue to what lies inside?
I went through my project folders and gathered some of my favorite pictures. Then I cropped them, lined them up and added a title. It feels more like me and as an added bonus I can bring back my polka dot background. Woohoo! I missed the dots. : )
Looks great! I love what you chose for the pictures. :)
ReplyDeletelove it! the colors are sooo fresh & clean! (but i loved the bobbins, too!)
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous! Nice and fresh. :-) I do like the herringbone too - great colours.
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect Adrianne!
ReplyDeleteSweet, mine is getting an uplift too!
ReplyDeleteI like to move furniture, too. I used to do it all the time. Now we have heavy furniture and my house feels ..... like I need to move furniture.
ReplyDeleteLooks Very Nice Adrianne!
ReplyDeleteI liked the bobbins, but I like change too.
From a "Branding" Standpoint, keep something the same, but change the rest. For example, Keep your blog name in the same place, in the same font and possibly the same color.... Change everything else. Keeping something the same gives the banner a continuity that will be familiar to your regular readers, but still allow you to keep your banner fresh. (Think Madame Samm at Stash Manicure. She changes her banner monthly, but the blog name font stays the same, and the general positioning stays the same... Right in the middle of her banner.)
But I agree with your choice to remove the hashes... That just did not fit with the content of your blog.
Good Luck,
Paul

Uh oh! Maybe I need a new blog banner that shows what's inside. Maybe this long weekend I'll spruce up my blog too. :)
ReplyDeletealways a trendsetter.... :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cute, Adrianne! I'l miss the bobbins (they were so neat!) but I'm sure I'll get used to this quickly. And I love that it reflects some of you! The close-up shot of the rollup is particularly striking...
ReplyDeleteI like the new banner! Cute!
ReplyDeleteI like both headers! It's fun to have a collage in your header so you can change it out with new projects. Also love the dot background. Fun to have a new look, isn't it?!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, and I really like it.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I changed mine recently some of the same reasons... I wanted people to know what I was about right when they opened my page.
ReplyDeleteJennifer :)
It looks great! (I love that marina quilt. It has always been one of my favorites on your site.)
ReplyDeleteReally nice! And the polka dot background--awesome!
